Why the EA
The Enrolled Agent (EA) is the highest credential awarded by the US Internal Revenue Service. The Philippines is the largest US-tax outsourcing hub after India, and the EA sets you apart for US-tax roles.
Working on US returns at a Big 4 delivery centre or a shared-services team in Manila? The EA supports your case for promotion and for client-facing US-tax roles.
If you prepare Forms 1040, 1065 or 1120 for a US CPA firm's offshore team, the EA supports a pay step-up or a move to higher-paying US-client roles.
Serving US clients remotely? Enrolled agents can represent taxpayers before the IRS, which lets you offer a fuller service to US clients.
Whether or not you have passed the CPALE, the EA has no education prerequisite and three focused parts: a faster US credential than the US CPA.

The Exam
PSI has no test centre in the Philippines, so you sit each part from home through PSI's live remote proctoring: you need a private room, a webcam and stable internet. Remote testing for international candidates has been running since 2 September 2026; book your slot and check the system requirements with PSI.
USD 317 per part, paid directly to PSI when you book. PSI accepts MasterCard, Visa and American Express.
You need a Preparer Tax Identification Number before you can book. Our PTIN guide walks through the route for applicants without a US Social Security Number.
Each part is 100 MCQs in 3.5 hours, and you can take the three parts in any order.
PSI's public availability checker (opens in a new tab) shows the current remote dates and start times; no sign-in is needed.
PSI remote start times

11:00 pm to 3:00 am
These are late-night sittings. Each part runs 3.5 hours, so you need a quiet room and stable internet through the night.
PSI runs remote sittings on a US Eastern schedule, so local start times move by an hour when US daylight saving ends on 1 November.
