Why the EA

Why the EA from the UAE.

The Enrolled Agent (EA) is the highest credential awarded by the US Internal Revenue Service. For accountants in the UAE it is a portable US credential: a route to remote US-tax work, to US-tax firms in India or the US, and to freelance US returns.

  • Accountants in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi

You already keep the books, run AP and AR or prepare accounts. The EA adds a portable US credential and a route to remote US-tax income.

  • Planning a move back to India

India's US-tax outsourcing firms and global capability centres hire EA-qualified staff. Qualify while you work in the Gulf and return with the credential, or aim for a US firm.

  • Serving US clients in the UAE

If your firm prepares returns for US citizens living in the Gulf, the EA puts an IRS credential behind the work you already do.

  • Freelance US returns

Prepare US returns remotely, from Forms 1040 and 1040-NR to FBAR and FATCA reporting for US expats, and represent clients before the IRS once you are enrolled.

The Exam

Sit the exam from the UAE.

PSI has no test centre in the UAE, so you sit each part from home through PSI's live remote proctoring: you need a private room, a webcam and stable internet. Remote testing for international candidates has been running since 2 September 2026; book your slot and check the system requirements with PSI.

  • Exam fee

USD 317 per part, paid directly to PSI when you book. PSI accepts MasterCard, Visa and American Express.

  • PTIN first

You need a Preparer Tax Identification Number before you can book. Our PTIN guide walks through the route for applicants without a US Social Security Number.

  • Three parts, any order

Each part is 100 MCQs in 3.5 hours, and you can take the three parts in any order.

  • Live dates and times

PSI's public availability checker (opens in a new tab) shows the current remote dates and start times; no sign-in is needed.
